How to Get There
La Selva is located quite remotely near the villages of Montegonzi and Montevarchi. It is not easy to get to the location so please read the information on this page carefully.
JOURNEY TO TUSCANY
PLANE
The nearest airports are Florence, Bologna and Rome. Unfortunately, there are not many connections to Florence. From Berlin for example you can use the cheap Ryanair flights to Bologna. From Florence and Rome there are also trains to Montevarchi, but we recommend you to take a rental car, so that you are flexible in the area..
TRAIN
Train station Montevarchi - Terranuova: The estate is only 6 km (3.7 miles) from Montevarchi the main town of the Arno Valley with a regular train service to Florence (52 direct trains a day, 40 min journey), Rome (8 direct trains a day) and the main Italian cities. www.trenitalia.it
CAR
A road trip over the Alps has of course also something nice. Please let us know if you are driving from Berlin by car or van, then you can take some equipment with you. ;-)
TRANSPORT TO THE WEDDING VENUE
SHUTTLE BUS
We will organise a shuttle bus to pick up guests who do not live in the villa and drive them back home. The bus will run several times during the night until morning.
Important: Since the roads in the villages are very narrow the shuttle bus can not drive everywhere. We therefore strongly recommend to book the accommodations that Francesco has chosen for us (see page "Accommodations"). If you have booked one of the accommodations via the website created especially for us the shuttle bus can easily pick you up. Francesco will prepare a timetable for the shuttle bus which we will send you before the wedding.
Alternatively there are two bigger meeting points which you have to reach in order to take the shuttle bus.

The area outside Montegonzi is countryside with very steep roads and no street lights. If you are not staying in Montegonzi village we suggest to drive your car to the bus stop or to the wedding venue. If you prefer to walk to the bus stop be ready for some adventure and bring a flashlight so at night you can safely return to your accommodation.
RENTAL CAR
It is convenient to have a rental car on site with which you can of course also come to the wedding location. However, we strongly advise you not to do so if you all want to drink! The streets there are full of curves and without lights.
TAXI
There are only 4 taxis in the area and they are usually very busy. Drivers are available at Montevarchi train station from 9:00 to 18:00. Before and after this hours taxis are available only with advanced reservation (accommodations can help). Unfortunately taxis are expensive and rarely accept reservations at night.

From Montevarchi train station to the villa the cost is 35/40 Euro and this is the minimum fare because taxis always depart from the train station. Drivers speak little english so the best way to reserve is to send a text message with basic english.
